Privacy Policy

This page explains, in plain English, what personal information this website collects and how it is used. The short version: only what you choose to send through the contact form, only so I can reply to you, and it is never sold or shared for marketing.

Who I am

I am Lisa Jewel, a private piano teacher in Abergavenny. I am the "data controller" for any personal information collected through this website. You can contact me about anything on this page at lisa_jewel@hotmail.co.uk.

What information is collected, and why

The contact form asks for your name, email address, an optional phone number, who the lessons are for, and your message. I use these details only to read and reply to your enquiry, and, if you go on to have lessons, for the ordinary admin that comes with them (arranging times, term dates and so on).

Browsing the site collects nothing personal by default. If you accept the optional cookie banner, anonymous usage statistics are collected. See the Cookie Policy for exactly what that involves.

Who handles the information

Your enquiry is delivered to my email inbox and stays there. Getting it to me involves two service providers acting on my behalf:

  • Vercel hosts the website. Like most hosts, it may keep short-lived technical logs (such as IP addresses) for security.
  • Resend is the email service that delivers your form submission to my inbox.

If you accept analytics cookies, Google Analytics also processes anonymous usage data, as described in the Cookie Policy. Nobody else receives your information, and it is never sold.

How long it is kept

Enquiry emails are kept for as long as they are useful for our correspondence and, for current pupils, for the ordinary admin of lessons. If you enquire and do not go ahead, you are welcome to ask for your details to be deleted at any time.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you can ask to see the personal information I hold about you, have it corrected, or have it deleted. Just email lisa_jewel@hotmail.co.uk; no special form is needed. If you are unhappy with how your information has been handled, you also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.

Children

Enquiries about lessons for children should be made by a parent or guardian, and all lesson admin is handled with the parent or guardian rather than the child.

Changes to this policy

If anything here changes (for example, a new service provider), this page will be updated and the date at the top revised.
